MAKEUP DAILY QUESTION FOR TUESDAY 1/31:
1) Satire can be described as didactic because the essence of a satire is to poke fun at a truth in society. The remarks made about society are often greatly exaggerated for a humorous appeal but they tend to speak truth at the same time. Satires entertain as well as inform the audience.
2) The allusion in " to his coy mistress" is found in line 10. It states " till the conversion of the jews". The quote is referring to the last book in the bible, revelations. In revelations which is discussing the end of the world it says that in these times jews will convert. The author is cleverly saying that he will wait for this women, to give her his love, until the end of time.

Candide's answer to the problem of evil comes to him from the farmer who has his friends for dinner. The farmer is content with his life because he works hard and doesn't spend time thinking or talking about philosophical questions or about good and evil. Candide ultimately realizes that the problem of evil wasn't meant to be solved, and instead of discussing it, mankind should spend their energy ' cultivating their gardens'.
