The Situation

A photo essay combines, pictures, words, and sometimes sounds to tell a story. We are going to create photo essays and post them to the website to communicate a story.

 

The Purpose

  • Tell a vivid and interesting story.
  • Use words, images, and sounds to tell that story. 
  • Write clearly. Photo essays require the author to be precise and to allow the pictures to tell the story. 

 

The Audience

High school students

 

Methods

  • Use Photostory or Movie Maker to combine pictures, text and sound into a unified presentation

 

Process

Select a theme or story you want to tell. See below.

Collect at least 4 pictures that tell your story. You can take your own pictures or find them online.

Write a 2-sentence caption for each picture.

Combine your photos and captions using the software.

Record voice-overs and add music to make your story more personal and more vivid.
